Specialist Support officer – Drug and Alcohol

 

  Specialist Support officer - with good experience in Drug and Alcohol  is needed to provide a 3 month cover.

Arlington Road is a 95 bed Hostel, working with complex high support customers with a history of homelessness, with a range of support needs.

The service is a are a 24-hour service. The candidate must be Safeguarding trained, have knowledge and experience of working with homeless people.

 

Name of Role: Specialist Support Officer – Drug and Alcohol

 Location : NW1 

Start date: As soon as possible

Duration : minimum 3 Months

Salary: £30,859pa

Certificate Requirements: counselling or equivalen DBS requirements: enhancedHealth and Safety:  Incidents may take place – all staff carry radios and work in offices near other staff.

Lone working ? yes, during their 121 sessions.

Working patterns are Monday to Friday, with two days on shift per week and 3 days doing SSO work with working one weekend per mont

It’s a specialist role for drug and alcohol and/or mental health qualifications, to be able to support customers on a 121 basis and make onward referrals. 

Required: relevant professional qualification in the area of expertise (i.e. Drug and alcohol, counselling, psychology, OT, nursing or social work or any other relevant qualifications). 

 

 

Job Purpose and Background

To provide clinical input for the staff and customers as directed by the service specification and the needs of the service. · To take lead responsibility in application of defined specialist interventions (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Drug & Alcohol) · Disseminate & advise the local & wider team on changes to best practice & new legislation · Participate in cross-service initiatives & projects

 

 

Professional Qualifications and Membership 

A relevant professional qualification in the area of expertise (i.e. Drug and alcohol, counselling, psychology, OT, nursing or social work or any other relevant qualifications). 

Level 3 Diploma, or willingness to work towards it (CQC Registered services)

 

Area of specialism - Must Have***

Psychology Counselling Psychotherapy

Experience providing 121 psychological support to customers. 

Familiarity with at least two psychological theoretical models. 

Familiarity producing a formulation of a case. Understanding and regular practice of reflective work. 

Understanding of the ethical framework around psychological work. 

Working towards registration with a professional body

 

Drug and Alcohol

Experience providing 121 Drug and alcohol support to customers 

Experience providing group support 

Understanding and regular practice of reflective work. 

Knowledge around theoretical models of addiction. 

Understanding of the ethical framework around addiction work
